Young drivers getting into unnecessary debt

Young motorists in the UK are adding to their debt problems by trying to get insured on cars with bigger engines.

Research from Gocompare found that 63 per cent of drivers aged 17 to 21 are applying for insurance on vehicles with engines bigger than 1.2 litres.

The group say that young drivers should always start with smaller engines, not just to save them money on insurance premiums but to continue their driving education.
