The Scottish government have been urged by a leading human resources company to enforce lessons in finance management to ensure young people stay out of debt.
Fraser Smart from Buck Consultants believes the volatile nature of the global economy demands that young children learn about money as early as possible.
Smart has already written to finance secretary John Swinney to ask for his support and expects his proposals will be accepted by the government.
