British Gas are claiming that consumers could reduce debt simply by being more energy efficient, after research found that the average household could cut their output by a fifth.
The group claim that the UK could cut their annual gas bills by as much as £4.6 billion if they started to properly monitor the amount of gas they use.
Energy suppliers have been heavily criticised so far in 2008 after significantly hiking up their prices across the board.
