According to the AA, UK consumers could reduce debts by as much as £7.7 billion simply by driving more efficiently.
The group say that driving too fast, braking too abruptly and using the air conditioning with the windows open all heavily effect fuel economy.
A spokesman for the AA also added that efficient driving doesn't just save on fuel bills but also makes the brakes and tyres last far longer.
