UK consumers struggling with debt might be entitled to recieve a significant payment from their bank for charging them excessively for going into the red or missing a payment.
MoneySavingExpert is leading the charge for consumers and generating awareness of the unfair penalties that banks have been charging their customers.
With people struggling with personal debt more likely than anyone to have suffered these penalties, it is they who stand to make the biggest gains.
However, the MoneySavingExpert have warned, "The regulator, the FSA has not yet lifted the hold on reclaiming. Yet it’s crucial to start a reclaim now, as you can only go back six years (five in Scotland), and delaying may mean you lose the ability to get the money for old charges back."
