Pocket money slumps during credit crunch

Parents struggling with debt problems during the Credit Crunch are trimming their outgoings by reducing the amount of pocket money they hand out to their kids.

Research from Halifax has shown that the average amount of weekly pocket money is now £6.13 a week, which is significantly down on the £8.01 from last year.

On a more positive note, a third of children will now save up to buy something they want, instead of simply asking for it from their parents.
