Pension contributions suffer from debt problems

New figures from Prudential show that many UK consumers are reducing their monthly pension contributions as the credit crunch, combined with debt problems limits their spending options.

18% of UK workers have reduced the amount they pay into their pension fund, while voluntary pension scheme contributions have dropped by 53% in the last 18 months alone.

UK workers are now paying an average of £129 a month down from £279 in March 2007.
