According to research from Experian, over 2 million break ups in the UK are caused by finance related arguments - with poor and unclear debt management plans a major factor.
The findings showed that one in four couples argue over finances and one in 20 find themselves splitting up over differences in opinion.
A spokeman for the group added: "What is sad is the number of children affected."
