Driving costs go beyond inflation

It is hardly surprising that so many motorists are slipping into debt when you consider the increased cost of driving far exceeds inflation.

Research from uSwitch has found that car insurance premiums alone have rocketed up and sit at 29% over inflation since 1997.

It costs the average car owner around £2400 to run their vehicle every year, a figure that would have been closer to £1800 had motoring costs remained in-line with inflation.
