5.9 million consumers in the UK have switched their credit cards in the last 6 months alone, many of whom are looking to significantly reduce their debt.
Research from MoneyExpert showed that 394,000 more people changed providers in the second half of 2007 than the first.
The group say that this shows that more people are looking into how they can reduce the amount of debt they owe and that they're getting far more savvy with their finances.
Sean Gardner, cheif executive for the group commented, "The increase in credit card switching means that people are concentrating more on reducing debts and are less concerned about other product areas."
He added, “And with bills increasing across the board it wouldn’t be a surprise to see further rises in credit card switching in the next six months as consumers struggle to cope."
