Debt problems caused by the credit crunch and the increased cost of energy has seen more people miss paying their bills each month.
Research from MoneyExpert has found that in the last six months the number of people who have missed an electricity bill grew from 1.31 million to 1.96 million.
There is a similar story for gas bills with the number of missed payments increasing from 1.16 million to 1.61 million.
