A respected member of the shadow cabinet has spoken out in a bid to plead with banks to offer better financial advice to those contemplating filing for bankruptcy.
Mark Hoban, Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury commented: "One of the challenges facing banks is to make sure that they actively refer their clients to these (debt management) organisations first before they go down the route where they are facing an IVA or bankruptcy."
